Sreenshots:

At first login, desktop was very simple and clear. All files that before upgrade on desktop was gone. Don't worry, it still can see in file manager. There is no desktop in GNOME 3 default. If you want to see desktop, launch gnome-tweak-tool(if you had installed), then select File Manager tab, turn on "Have file manager handle the desktop" selection. You can see desktop like before. Other features I still trying. This page that in official site has many detail descriptions about GNOME 3 features. This is my first time to use GNOME 3 also. Maybe I need to spend some days to get with it.

GNOME 3 has changed many things. It would give you another user experience. It take many convient and creative features, and also may produce some unconvient places. But, it's just like from WinXP to WinVista or 7. Perhaps still many people don't like it or think it change to big that can not fit the current user habits. But it still a trend, I think it would not go backwards.
